If your door is original to a house from the early-to-mid 1960s, the tell is usually the spring system - a single center-mounted torsion spring instead of the dual-spring setups newer doors use, and hinges pitted enough that the panels don't sit flush anymore. Cold snaps make it worse: steel contracts, the seal at the bottom panel stops meeting the slab, and the door starts dragging on the track on the coldest mornings of the year, which lines up with the severe cold rating for this area. If you're hearing a grinding pull at the top of the cycle rather than a clean roll, that's usually the original track brackets, not the opener. None of that means the whole door has to go - sometimes it's a spring and bracket job, not an install. We'll say so if that's what we find.
